Project summary

The Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil (MDIC) is responsible for developing public policies for the promotion of biotechnology in Brazil. Given the possibility of growth of this area in Brazil, the MDIC and the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) together with Biominas Brasil had an initiative to seek, know and promote the negotiation of technology and biotechnology patents of the main Brazilian Technology Transfer Offices (NITs). This partnership resulted in the creation of a Forum, activity realized in a session of the BIO Latin America Conference 2014, in which previously selected NITs could present their technologies available for transfer.

  • Identification of the Brazilian most active NITs in biotechnology, their challenges, capabilities and potential, in addition to their methods for partner’s identification;
  • Previously training of NITs’ representatives for presentation in the Forum;
  • Expansion of NITs’ network, participation in partnering meetings at BIO Latin America, developing new partnerships, identification of new markets and promotion of technological innovations of these institutions.
