Project summary

SEBRAE, acronym in Portuguese for Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises, is a private entity that promotes competitiveness and sustainable development of micro and small enterprises focusing on strengthening entrepreneurship and accelerating the process of economy formalization. Biominas Brasil and SEBRAE-MG have worked together in the preparation of several studies directed to the Life Sciences sector in order to stimulate innovation in the state of Minas Gerais (MG) and in Brazil.


  • The study Diagnostic of the Life Sciences Sector in Minas Gerais analyzes four key factors for creating an innovative corporate environment: R&D and innovation strategy; establishing partnerships; financial resources for innovation; and public policies for innovation. The study also presents a comparison between the business environment in this segment and the situation 10 years ago, bringing contributions to this sector´s consolidation and growth.
  • The Practical Guide for Animal Health Innovation – From Bench to Market is an initiative within the Pole of Excellence in Bovine Genetics’ action plan to strengthen the state of Minas Gerais as a center of excellence and dissemination of bovine genetics, promoting technological innovation and new opportunities for the development of this sector.
  • Part of the action plan for the development and consolidation of the Food Technology Pole in the town of Viçosa – MG, the Practical Guide for Food Ingredients Innovation – From Bench to Market aims to promote technological innovation in this sector, consisting in an important tool for anyone who is starting research and/or an enterprise in the area.
